I saw a neat explanation of why importuning a foreign power to interfere in domestic politics crossed the threshold for treason on here last night. But I can't find it now! Help appreciated.

@iaindale.bsky.social ?
They don’t cross the threshold for treason. That’s action taken specifically against the monarch. You are looking at national security laws.
Don’t know if this helps more aimed at foreign powers not directly linked to politicians. www.gov.uk/government/p...
A bit like English politicians telling Scotland's electorate we can't have a second referendum to remove ourselves from the binfire the UK is?
Erm no
Nope. The UK Government, also known as His Majesty's Government, is the central executive authority of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is a parliamentary democracy where the elected British Government, the head of which is the Prime Minister, holds executive power.
Would the People of England need permission from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to leave the Union if they wanted to?
What do you call a volunteer member in a union that's prevented from deciding if they wish to remain in that union?
Scotland is a partner in a union, or a captive?
I never understood why Scotland was only considering leaving the Union when they could do easily be running it. C'mon Scotland start getting some representation South of the boarder.
oh there is major problem theg're tories n liebour who do absolutley nothing for Scotland and her peoples
No not really
Q - what do you call the Farage Walk? A - Traitor's Gait
🤣👏👌
Well, you can see that doing this kind of stuff is already working really well in Brazil for Bolsonaro :-D.
Seems pretty clear cut to me. I’d be interested to see if the MET send some nice officers to meet Mr Farage at Heathrow…
And what did they do to people guilty of treason back in history.
Chair for Nigel
Strap that bastard in...live on TV 📺 GB News.
It’s more likely to fall under Foreign Interference, Espionage or Election Law offences. Still criminal though 🤷♂️
Sure, that would be a fascinating and topical read, but I mainly came here to see your overnight oats recipe, James. Spit it out, so to speak.
I love that look on his face when he gets his ass handed to him by someone who knows he's full of shit
Farage has been saying for years that laws passed by a UK parliament should be supreme and not subject to scrutiny by foreign parliaments or courts. Yet there he was yesterday in a foreign parliament saying foreign lawmakers should threaten the UK over a law passed by the UK parliament.
Seditious? Yes. It certainly looks, sounds & feels like it. So how do we proceed from here?
I've often thought Trump's US is a real threat to our sovereignty that the Brexit ultras barely acknowledge. Policies on everything from action against Israel to, most recently, cutting carbon emissions from shipping are being met with a threat of tariffs from Washington...
💯
Trumps US and the Brexit Ultras are on the same team, both a threat to our democracy.
I think they are well aware of it.
True, particularly since they've now turned to domestic checks on govt power - the courts, the civil service, civil society, local press. It's almost as if it's far more about giving them licence to do as they please...
A neat explanation?? Isnt it obvious??
Something to do with sovereignty, perchance?
The Treason Felony Act 1848 I believe, get an expert to confirm “acts intended to undermine the government or the ruling monarch through less direct means, such as plotting or inciting actions”
Where do you think 'Labour are on the right track' to, exactly?
Several metrics indicate that the Gov't is on course to economic stability. Given Trump & Putin are actively destabilising every country in the Free World, I think they are doing the best that can be expected. Certainly better than my county council, still paralysed by Reform's flag obsession
I bet it wasn’t from Daniel Kawczynski

Remember when Obama talked about a post Brexit Britain?
When Boris Johnson complained about the part Kenyan's resentment against Britain?
I remember that he was absolutely right. Interference? I would call it friendly advice since Brexit potentially helped US interests. Though given the result, his words were counterproductive
Surround him by 5 armed policemen when he lands at Heathrow and charged him with treason.
I wish, he literally incited riots & they don’t even interview the treasonous xxxx
Even Mosley was arrested and imprisoned in the end....
Sadly they're unlikely to do anything so brave for fear it would be exploited by US regime media
Where are these 5 armed policemen most have 2 arms as a maximum. Lastly it’s Police officers.
😂😂😂
This neatly outlines some of the various and seemingly many ways #NigelFarage is a traitor. bsky.app/profile/poli...
And a spiv, and a carpetbagger.
The irony here is that if Farage did live in North Korea, or Russia, and he had done what he just did in the US Congress i.e.encouraging a foreign govt to interfere in his country's policy, on his return he would have exited very quickly, probably via the nearest window 20 storeys up....
Talk about Ed Davey re Rayner - the only politician responding with empathy not exploiting a disabled kid for political point scoring
Why has Farage always been a close friend of weirdos and creeps? www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...
Time for merch... Tees and badges. Banners and quotations
The Establishment promoting Farage being told by the US that any future Democrat President will regard a PM Farage as a national security threat and there won't be a relationship let alone special if they install him in power via the Orwellian BBC.
I've triggered some White Liberals by calling the BBC 'Orwellian'. My great grandfather's were Brown people who fought on the Allied side. One of them--disabled during the war--told us how the BBC would deliberately not take media of Allied Brown soldiers. F*ck the BBC. bsky.app/profile/azur...
Another example? Look at the attendance list... bsky.app/profile/love...
I have found peace and serenity in recent times by taking myself away from the worry and accepting what I cannot change. Farage will always be a dishonest treacherous self-serving bigoted lump of filth. And we're never going to change that. But the media, including LBC unfortunately, love him.
Not convinced that submission is the answer, though resistance comes at a price few are prepared to pay.
Not really the point I was making. It suits the media to keep Farage in the headlines. So the media are at least as responsible as Farage for the stress that Farage brings to all decent people.
💯
Suela Braverman did far worse when she said our nuclear deterrent would be under Moslem control — especially since it depends on American missiles
Oh is Farage doing a Trump / Reagan / Nixon now, too?
Amazing that it's always the most nationalist and awful political figures from the right using foreign nations to interfere in domestic politics for personal electoral advantage
No one complained when Obama and the Spanish pm in 2014 were invited by the British media and Government to interfere in Scotlands referendum It's all just so hypocritical
Indeed.
"no one"?
There are forms of interference that are more or less morally bankrupt. Personally, I don’t agree that Farage has gone as far as to meet the criteria for Treason. However, as a man whose entire political evolution stems from a cry of the sovereignty of English Law over foreign laws and pressures… 🤔🤯
It's what they did King Chuck 1 for. Guilty!
In the same way that you prefer not to repeat the names of serial killers and school shooters, I would be grateful if the name N---- F----- could be consigned to your dustbin and you henceforth refer to him simply as "The Klaxon of Clacton". Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Was it from @carolhedges?
If his only defence is that he didn't explicitly name the UK as a country that should be targeted for sanctions re. online free speech laws then I think they should still lock him up. Treachery and espionage is always subtle and his slimy escape tactics should not be available to him over this.
If he ever mentions free speech, he should be reminded that he banned Femi from Reform's gatherings, his Blackshirts physically assaulted Femi, and just yesterday he banned journalists from the New World from the NEC event. Hopefully the NEC will refuse to host Reform's future rallies
Damn now I’ve said that I’ll have to hurry home and get the radio on 😂
Get the MET police commissioner on the show and ask why he isn’t arresting Faridge for Treason … failing that a top lawyer to give a legal opinion.
Farage will have neatly swerved around this. I doubt there will be any consequences, and he - of course - will become the victim. www.gov.uk/government/p...
At least your traitor isn't petitioning for sanctions to release his criminal father. Meanwhile, in Brazil...
You'd think
I am sure that the good law crew could give us all a better understanding of his sedition,
The whole point of Brexit was to free the UK from Europe and to deliver it to the highest bidder, whether Russia (Farage, Corbyn ), US (Farage) or China (Osbourne)
