Genuinely, I think they struggle to exist because there's no profit in it. Our politics, like basically every aspect of our modern lives, have been subsumed by the drive to chase the profit motive. In a world where money is power how does righteousness fight back?
To be clear, this isn't doomerism or nihilism. I believe this is the greatest hurdle we have to overcome to make any kind of actual changes within our political system. We won't figure out how without addressing it. There's also other elements, but this is a character limited social media platform.
Not to mention I'd rather this all crumble and be rebuilt into something even just halfway decent for everyone. But realistically I don't see that happening and we need to operate within material reality. Change is still possible within those limitations. Just airing my thoughts on all *this*.
