They led the world in the path of materialism inoru era so they feel a kind of smug superiority but they are quick to share the blame with everyone - even the ones whom they denied equal access at the table of prosperity - for the mass extinction due to the same materialism they led/prospered from.

Although it's also true that without Black and brown people - often first-generation immigrants - many elderly parents would have no carers. So: both! IMO we need more positive terminology to reinforce just how much we need folks who are prepared to do this work for such crap money.
