The James Dobson types have an agenda of repression, including of spontaneous joy. You have to wonder if there is a link between the inordinate number of right wing evangelicals convicted of sex crimes and the kind of stifled lifestyle the pious like Dobson promote.
Yes, their whole ideology is probably the best scheme for child abuse —including and perhaps especially sexual abuse—that anyone has every cooked up. The connection of their propaganda to the constant sexual abuse of children (and adults) is not a coincidence—it created a system to facilitate it.
