I have maybe a vain hope that once Democrats get back in power, it carves out an opening for a legitimate 3rd party. One that points to both parties being corrupt. I think we need to get to some stability first to get there but Dems getting back in power and doing nothing with it would force that.
Every other time, it's just led to more Republicans...
Well, sadly yes. That is why it's a vain hope. But...ugh. Optimism is so hard.
Sometimes optimism isn't the best respmse when you need to do something about the problem.
Optimism does not preclude activism, but i see your point. Optimism does at least encourage action though if done right. "Things will work out (if we fight for it)" is vastly different from "Things will work out (if we send thoughts and prayers and positive vibes)"
I guess I've never thought of that as optimism... It's true though, if you don't think you can succeed, you won't try.
