On PC if you click add video and use a gif, it's automagically converted to an MP4. On phone app that doesn't work, it just becomes a static image.

I have never worked with AV1 or AVIF. I have never heard of them either. Is it another proprietary format from Microsoft?

I don't know boo other than it's sneaky and masquerades as a gif, w/ a gif filename in the url, then upon download it's an avif. Free online media converters convert them to static gifs. So I actually screen recorded the Mr. Feeny avif, trimmed in Clipchamp->mp4->gif

GIFs suck and should die. 😄 They are massive size and a tech from the 1800s. Bluesky doesn’t want them(nobody really does) because of that, but supports them by converting to a more modern format.
