I really don't think anyone hates the idea of anyone making more than minimum wage. The argument they make is that if you have minimal skills, a minimal work ethic, and minimal drive to accomplish more, you're probably going to make minimum wage. I think that's fair.

I worked for a plumbing contractor who would bid and get Davis-Bacon contracts. He’d keep the extra money for himself. We had to file complaints to get the wages we were due. With the exception of me, an apprentice, the rest were licensed plumbers. Hardly minimally skilled workers.

Yeah, I don't think anyone at all thinks that they should be making minimum wage. Definitely a critical skill.

Yet, how many people have complained about fast food workers asking for a living wage? I know too many union workers who take their checks to anti-union businesses to save a buck and complain that their taxes are subsidizing the poor!
