One of the worst examples of this is a friend of mine from Sri Lanka (so a Muslilm) who is married to a MAGA (born again Christian) who out of nowhere became interested in homeschooling her kids. She left work and became a homeschooler. Her MAGA husband is a prepper who has all the MAGA paranoia.
He hates public education but... he teaches at a public school. So he wants to protect his kids from teachers like himself. It is truly bizarre.
My MAGA FIL is a retired public school teacher and simultaneously would advocate for things like state-run boarding schools to remove kids from what, in his mind, were bad families and for "good families" to homeschooling so their children wouldn't be subjected to govt propaganda.
Oh, and, as a math teacher, used a particularly set of Bible verses (King James naturally) to demonstrate how the verse numbers added up to something meaningful that corresponded to Shakespear. Anyway, all about control. Whatever gives "right-thinking" men the most control.
