I think a large part of this is because the moderation tools result in a bunch of self-reinforcing silos. There are absolutely communities on here who are less frothy about politics, but they’re not visible from the edges of my sandbox.

The nuclear block also prevents cross-pollination to some extent. I’ve just accepted that there’s swaths of this app entirely foreign to me.
