It was better message wise because reform in practice meant no accountability and more money for cops. Of course conservatives loved it. They don't hate the weird defund, they hate the meaning.

Or maybe those folks had already been subjected to decades of copaganda and got hit with intense multipronged media campaigns. I know in the 612 we were barraged with phone calls, push polls, billboards, everything. On top of the national media.

The Justice in Policing Act was the better message and would have put meaningful reform in place. Defund people fucked it up.
