Tried Eternal Decks for the first time - need to see more of it before I form a real opinion.
I desperately want to try Eternal Decks, but I'm not sure who to pester.
If I wasn’t actively trying to get my wife to play it with me, I’d mail you my copy. My group literally has four copies floating around because @seanfranco.bsky.social got us all to try it and we all got a bit obsessed.
I will take the blame for this. We’ve had so much fun with the game. Maybe @rcampbell04.bsky.social can help @danthurot.bsky.social out here.
1/2 Unfortunately I am out of any extra copies. The game is super hot and sold out everywhere very quickly. Best I can say (which is not a great answer at all 🙃) is look out for used copies or for the reprint coming from Hiroken later this year and for the PGC version coming at some point in 2026.
2/2 That said, if you want to play it online, which obviously isn't as good as in person, I created PCIO rooms for the first couple stages. It will at least give you a chance to try it out in the mean time. The downloads can be found on my Github github.com/billybob0101...
I love the look of it!
@zweigefuhle.bsky.social has been doing art & design for SNAFU’s games and they are just beautiful.
the game represents part of the Ecuadorian-Peruvian War in 1941 over a 200-year-old border dispute. it features cool stuff like subsystems for naval transport/patrol, the first ever combat airborne drop in the Americas, a political pressure track edging toward cease-fire
Equatorial is definitively my prefered game of the ones we have published so far... 😍
it’s the only one I’ve played so far, but I have ALMOST ALL of them now! muahahhahahaaaa
I didn’t play much this week since we were on vacation visiting my brother’s family. So I just had one “play” of My First Adventure: Finding the Dragon, reading it to my niece.
Got a game of Agricola in. Hadn’t played in years. Still a wonderful misery farm simulator. I scored horribly but had a fantastic time.
I don’t mean this as an bad thing but boy is that game a tonally accurate simulator of the sensation of drowning
Ha, I tried Wilmott's Warehouse a couple weeks ago and had a lot of fun with it. I'm not sure if it's "good" in the conventional sense, but who needs convention?
Wow I didn't think Emberleaf was THAT bad
I figure it was either Battleship or CVLT.
Yes, I presume so
Played Innovation for the first time. It blew my mind. So many great ideas there!
Innovation is fantastic!
Looking forward to your review of Battleship!
here ya go: It's fine. Lots of space to explore in future, better designs.
You’ve played Captain Sonar right? I often think of that game as the spiritual successor to Battleship. They have virtually nothing in common mechanically outside of the grid, but it’s the perfect realization of hunting the other team’s ship while avoiding being hunted.
Captain Sonar is an incredible game! I reviewed it very favorably back in the day, and played it for ages. As you've noted, the only problem is the strict player count.
If not for the arduous player count requirements (in particular how it can’t tolerate a last-minute +/- 1 player) it would easily be my favorite game of all time.
Played Hot Streak and had a really good time. Some rules clarity issues but it was still a silly fun game.
Very curious about vantage
Personally, I love it. My review went up last week, if you'd like to read (too many) words about my experience. spacebiff.com/2025/06/26/v...
Have been really surprised how original and different the design seems from reviews I’ve read (including yours). I’m not a Stegmaier hater, but find many Stonemaier games uninspiring. Really looking forward to giving it a try.
Played my first game of Pax Pamir 2E in several months. It was, as always, excellent; that game’s ability to be interesting every single time you play it continues to be the best thing about it.
Also got in my 4th Arcs Campaign! I continue to adore it (it’s displaced Twilight Imperium as my favorite all-day space epic), but it’s worrisome how frequent it is that we get to a point halfway through act 3 where everyone else is tired, confused, and frustrated. Wondering how to improve my teach.
Something about the event system (Event Cards, Imperial Council, Summits, First Regents) really profoundly resists internalization even by the very experienced gamers in my group.
Dug out an old classic for our group, Shogun. Still undecided how much I like the balance of that game but the cube tower means that it always has a place in our hearts as a Risk-like with a major difference. I'd love to see that mechanic used again in some other game (apart from Wallenstein).
