one thing that I have noticed while engaged in ARCHBISHOP WATCH is that rank-and-file clergy in the US have followed church leadership in offering public statements on immigration. Random parish priests showing up in local news outlets with commentary, that kind of thing. Sample from Oklahoma City:

This absolute abandonment of fellow Christians by those that want to appear righteous may irredeemable to the soul of our nation as a Christian one, this willful rejection of the call of Jesus to love one another.

This stuff tends to always start with conciliatory framing (“the US needs secure borders! Criminals bad! Immigration system broken!”) before singling out random raids and family separation as against Catholic social teaching (and often mentioning parish members who have been deported)

Lots and lots of energy coming out of the church directed towards immigration reform (and some of these interviews explicitly mention supporting a path to citizenship, a lack of which in my view is maybe the most morally shocking part of American immigration policy).

I award these various priests 4 (out of 10 possible) Dorothy Day Points (TM). This has been ARCHBISHOP WATCH.
