These are the sorts of tragedies that occur when you severely cut back on the US Weather Service. The Republican Party, that festering sore on democracy, needs a comeuppance!

The NWS in Austin staffed up for the event. They normally have one person overnight and added four more. I'm no Trumper, but this isn't on the NWS. Kerr County had no warning system in place and at 4 AM, no one at the camp was watching the news or paying attention to cell phone alerts.
