I point to the period immediately after COVID, when, once I felt safe going out in public again, everything became different. The truth seemed not to be a priority, and constant exaggeration seemed "necessary" to some, while hubris became an art form.

After the pandemic, after sane people got vaccinated, everyone was like, "Covid? What's all the fuss? I got it, my family got it, we survived." Yeah, after you got the shot, dumbass. I remember 2 whole years where everyone sane was worried that you would actually DIE if you got a fever. Sigh

What still really bugs me in a stupifying way is, we did not stop as a nation to grieve. We lost a major war's worth of people, businesses, and people went bankrupt, and we did... nothing? Not even a day of morning or a celebration, we made it? It feels broken and detached from who we are.

I agree. I was lucky. I didn't lose anyone. Just lost family celebrations. But I know close friends who lost family. The reason I think there was no memorial was because Trump and RFK pretended it was no big deal. And I know smart people who would say, I got a fever then I was fine.

Thanks for that idea. But, knowing me, I’m still going to scream and curse at the top of my lungs. It helps expel my rage and depression about it all.

People are still saying it, even people on the left. Most Americans have no idea how bad things are, and how bad they will be. And I’m not even talking about the economy, in my opinion that’s the least of our worries.
