Ironically, the idea that LLMs are just a tool in the toolbox for some people is one of the best rejoinders to the AI hype that I can think of. It's not an all or nothing, it's making the monster fit into a little box.

Right. As Dr Cottom said, right now, it's 'mid'. But there can be proper utility with the actual work of reinforcement and experimentation. The marketing and panic equally inflate.
LLMs are the next leaded gasoline. It's a tool that makes you stupider every time you use it I don't care how "useful" the tool is if it undermines my mental acuity, curiosity, and attention to detail
Right, it is absolutely useful. And, as a dev, I don't see how it cannot be just "me looking work stuff up on stackoverflow" with fewer steps. People are making it out to be either a god or the devil and it's neither.
