Duffy’s giving the game away - It’s not about the numbers for crime in the subway, it’s about the perception of crime, a perception that has been fueled by right-wing propaganda outlets like the Post and Fox News to convince their viewers and readers that our pleasant city is actually a hellhole.

A great response would be why are you so emotional? I just read you the facts? Your lies are also so emotional. Do you need a moment to collect yourself while I reclaim my time.

Can confirm Duffy’s stats. I rode the subway three times yesterday and was murdered twice.

Four million people ride the subway every day, and they want you to believe that rare events are frequent because it furthers their goal of insisting that liberals can’t govern

To some extent they're just talking past each other. Grand larceny is by far the most common major crime on the subway and there's much less of it than before the pandemic, but assaults are in fact up about 60% — 127% if you adjust for ridership — since 2019.

* MTA says 10 people were murdered in the subways in 2024. * MTA says 1,194,866,357 passenger trips were completed in 2024 This is a fatality risk of less than 1 in 100 million. Would you like to know what your chances of being killed in a traffic accident are?
