There’s an essay to be written about how this administration is more or less preying on young adults to do their public dirty work because they don’t think through consequences. It’s similar to the personal essay industrial complex of the 2010s, but with much direr consequences.

This isn’t to make excuses for the Hitler Youth doing this, but to point out that bad people can be exploited by prestige and influence as well.
This woman is a Heritage Foundation staffer. She's 100% onboard with everything she's saying. She's not some random staffer who doesn't know better.
I’m not saying that, I’m saying that you can be on board and not think through the consequences of being the very public face of this stuff. There’s a reason why there aren’t older staffers doing this, they know better.
If the person was 18 Id probably agree. She's 30. And I realize some of the DOGE people might have been young and naive, but at what age does personal responsibility kick in here? It's one thing to work for a shady company. These guys wrecked IT infrastructure across the government multiple times.
I was 23 and got laid off during the 2008 financial crash. I interviewed at Trump University and immediately knew it was an unethical scam. I was in desperate need of money but I still had a fully developed conscience not to fleece seniors of their money.

But I do agree with you in the fact that many of these henchmen are young and seeking fame and a quick payday. In this job market, its easy to fall into that trap. Unfortunately from the behavior I've seen its more that everyone are happy participants rather than people looking for a paycheck.
Work for the DHS today! Essential qualifications include dead soulless eyes, eagerness to do anything (anything) you are asked to do, and comfort being a sacrificial fall guy in a couple years to appease the mob.
Right yeah like the DOGE kids (who you must have been thinking of too). They were/are noxious little brats but also effectively children with two ideas in their heads being given absurd levels of arbitrary power, however briefly. And then becoming historic villains without thinking it through.
