So there’s a thing I’ve noticed repeatedly from people who are still on X, The Everything App - they’re constantly making weird accusations about Bluesky that don’t make any sense if you’re on here, and I think it’s a sign they’re deeply insecure about posting to X, The Everything App.

I have only two complaints, which to be fair are general complaints about every social media site: 1) Responders who can only reply in the negative. They could suck the life out of a dry bone. Defeatism, which even I have been guilty of, is just tired AF. 2) Alt-Text zealots. No further comment.
I’ve seen more than a few people who have made “Bluesky was mean to me” posts after the alt text was basically 50%+ of their replies. Otherwise these people all seem thin skinned.

Like, if you look at this post a friend sent me and then actually read the “deranged replies” it’s mostly people pointing out that you should take jury duty seriously, but you gotta justify still hanging out in a place you know sucks.
It's funny because on here you often have to scroll down to find weird non-sequiturs from the most tedious people imaginable. Meanwhile on Twitter tedious weirdos can pay to be at the top of threads. It's almost as if they like that better because they're the tedious weirdos.

The replies are annoying because they're earnest. Like posting "God I hate my job" and getting a bunch of "oh, so you want the economy to collapse?" replies I get why that's a tad obnoxious but very funny to complain on the Nazi site; guessing it's not hard to find a worse set of replies over there

I do think that we could stand to be a little less moralistic about where people post, that list from earlier this week didn’t sit well to me, and we can do that because the people still posting over there are pretty clearly aware it sucks.

Mostly agree. Though I do think electeds who flee Bluesky for X the moment they’re criticized on here (like Brian Schatz) deserve the scorn that resulted from that choice.

It might be my unique experience, but those replies are incredibly annoying because they miss why jury duty sucks. I’ve been on it a half-dozen times, only had to show up once, that one time nobody in the entire waiting room was even interviewed for potential service. It’s just an annoying tax.

Not deranged at all and definitely not unique to Bluesky. I’ve gotten similar replies online for 20+ years to my notion that jury duty is a tax.
