My son witnessed a school shooting as a first grader. His first day of senior year there was an active shooter situation. No progress on gun reform his entire K12 years.

Emmy, so sorry to hear this. I am a behavioral specialist in a school, and while I have not witnessed an active shooter in our school, I have seen plenty of shit that has traumatized students and staff.

How sad for him. I imagined it helped shape his outlook on life. I have family who lived near Aurora, CO & they have moved to Canada - trump and too many mass shootings - they had had enough.

Yes, it has. He’s leaving in two weeks for college at St. Andrews in Scotland. He’s excited to be leaving the U.S. for school. We’re going to miss him terribly, but I’m happy for him. Trump is destroying higher ed in the U.S.
