I understand what you are saying, but resigning does not help us here. They should stay at their posts. Do the work the right way and publicly call out their data manipulation. Make RFK or the White House fire them. Make it public. Don’t let them hire another sycophant that will go along with RFK.
The problem might be though that their mental health was at risk. To the point where it would take years of therapy. Its a dark place. Been there from a past job where I HAD to quit or lose my mind. We won't know until one of them says exactly what was going on.

You’re right. It’s easy for me to say this here. It’s far harder to be in there and have to consider your future and family. I don’t wish this situation on anyone. It was my dream to work in the CDC or NIH once I finished my degree. I don’t say all of this to blame anyone for not doing this.

I'm ALWAYS team fight it. I know the CDC director is a political appointment (e.g. nominated by the president, approved by the Senate), and with a few exceptions that are being litigated now, the president can fire appointees for pretty much any reason...
But the next tier down are career people, who are protected by the Civil Service Reform Act. Of course, Trump has attempted to fire the Merit Services Review Board and is arguing that he has a constitutional right to fire anyone who reports up to him and that's still being litigated.
But the protections and the process provide a lot more opportunity to kick up a ton of dust, where a resignation just shows up as a line in a news story on one day.
I fully understand why someone wouldn't want to deal with presidential-level harassment, Trump's fan club or be involved when the Cabinet member over their department turns their sights on destroying it. I can't blame them for resigning, but the more effective tactic is still to fight it.
