Reminder: We have agency in these Redistricting Wars. If you live in a red state that is considering a gerrymander (like TX) call your State Reps and tell them to STOP. And if you live in a blue state that is considering a countermeasure (like CA) call your State Reps and tell them to GO.
The only countermeasure that will be effective is ranked choice voting.

If a gerrymander war happens and all the states redistrict based on the ruling power in that state, then Republicans would end up with a huge majority. It would all come down to that states Supreme Court and if they would allow it to happen.

I think it's time we realize how utterly fruitless these endeavors have been and focus on other means of control which actually work. Meet a Republican in the middle of the aisle on an issue that you agree upon. And start getting ready, like, ideally 4 years ago. Now is good too, though.

And if you're in Texas, also call your State Reps and State Senators (especially Dems) to urge them to break quorum. Yes, I know that would mean giving up $500 per legislative day at least in the State House, but they need to agree to be gone for months. Also, filibuster it, delay hearings, etc.
If you're a Texan, also show up to these redistricting hearings - there will be one tomorrow in Austin at the state capitol, Saturday in Houston, and Monday in Arlington. Attend the rallies as well prior to those hearings happening to speak up and testify against these proposed maps.
Absolutely… CA, NY, IL, etc should all do the same…. Gerrymandering the crap out of every BLUE state and ensure we have a majority in midterms….
