She was paying $479 a month for her ACA health insurance. Next year she will be paying *$2,800* a month for the same plan. And it's all because Republicans decided to end ACA subsidies. Expect to hear stories like this all across the country very soon. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

Respectfully, if the first person you’re blaming in this situation is Chuck Schumer and not Donald Trump or Mike Johnson or John Thune, then your understandable anger is a bit misdirected.

The answer is simply that they want the older people with memories of what real democracy is to die off. The younger, less resistant, more malleable minds can be hammered into compliance and won't know anything is different or wrong. The new workforce.

$2800 a month for health insurance is asinine. So is $479 a month, still with a deductible, to get a lower price on medical treatment. But going from $479 to $2800 is going from "fucked up" to "truly fucked up."

Sunnydazehaze @sunnydazehaze.bsky.social

How is that? Medicaid basically is free and income is one of the qualifiers. Earning $4k per month is out of range to qualify so it seems odd the premium would be more than the allowable income.

Kimi 🍀☮🤘💖 @kimberleelynn.bsky.social

It's apparently a price they quoted him for partial coverage till the first of the year. Yes, it's SUPPOSED to be free, but there are co-pays everywhere, and it might be what it is, is a co-pay. At any rate, he doesn't have that kind of $ and he's pissed. I need more info, yeah.

aug 24, 2025, 12:28 am • 1 0 • view

Sunnydazehaze @sunnydazehaze.bsky.social

There really are no co-pays with Medicaid. In fact, if a disabled person has Medicaid and regular health insurance (think disabled adult child covered under parent’s health insurance but also qualifies for Medicaid), the regular health insurance is first payor. Any co-pays are pd by Medicaid.
