this has now happened 3 times in a week, so we've put up an angry sign. I'll never understand how people in this city can be so bad at sorting trash

I would make a sign like those “please don’t pee in my pool - I don’t swim in your toilet” signs that was like, “please don’t put litter in our recycling bin, we don’t put old cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans in your litter box for your cat to shit on”
We went for something more concise: "cat litter does not go in recycling, it goes in the black trash bins →" Recology didn't take the bin it was in (there's enough units that we have 3 bins just for recycle) so we definitely wanted to call attention to it before it gets worse.
“Can’t recycle your cat’s poop”
or the plastic bags it was in! Thin plastic also takes special disposal care.
I hated renting, and people abusing the waste disposal specifically - people used to throw shit out in the big dumpsters they weren’t supposed to, so they put in like maybe 10 regular sized household bins each for trash and recycling for like 70 units or so? Literal nightmare
This incident may be the worst missorted trash experience I've had since I saw aluminum foil in compost at work that one time.
