Lots of short, unattractive guys can get dates, as long as they keep their expectations realistic. And not even necessarily with unattractive women! OkCupid once did a study that found that women are much more likely than men to message someone they didn't find physically attractive.
As long as you've got a good personality, you've got a shot. I'd say the biggest obstacle for decent men these days is that we exist in a climate where women are increasingly just uninterested in even trying to interact with men because so many of them are purely toxic.
A bunch of bad actors are ruining things for everyone else. Like, sure, I'm speaking from a position of privilege because I have The Kavorka, but I'm confident that if we could foster a culture where women felt safe and respected, a lot of these dudes would get dates pretty quickly.
