Before Obamacare my daughter had no healthcare once she aged off my insurance. With several life-long, life-threatening conditions requiring medication. Her health was declining, until Obamacare. She's living a relatively normal life now. So worlds better than before, yes. Perfect, no. But better.

It's not better. It was better for you and your daughter at that moment in time. That doesn't mean that anything was fixed at all. Hence why it was so easy for Trump to destroy what little progress was made.

Everyone has opinions. It's still better for us. Until it's not. My preference would be universal healthcare, such as found in many EU countries. But since it's a business here, that won't happen.

And again, I think Obama did a world of good. Within the boundaries of what it was possible for him to do in the political climate of the time. It's not like a President can just wave his hand and make something happen. Oh, wait, did someone tell Trump that yet?

We perhaps disagree about what the boundaries of possibility were, not only for Obama but the Democratic Party more generally. They dropped the bag and got us here. Trump is a great example of testing the limits of executive power in a way the Dems never would, and yet it's what was needed of them.

I dunno. I think that may be a little simplistic, a little too easy, blaming it all on the Dems. It kind of absolves everyone else in the country who could have also been working towards a better end. But they stuck with the two main parties instead. There were other options they ignored.

Dunno; business will not go quietly. It's not like it was when they put Social Security into place - that was not replacing a system. Only thing I can think of is a parallel voluntary system - like in the UK. Which we've been doing with Medicaid, sort of. But again, corporate interests....

Luigi them all then? idk There's still no point in lionising Obama for pyrrhic achievements.
