Don't forget the Romans brought over all the auxilliary soldiers, who came from all over the shop—Africa, Spain etc. They've just shown that they were trading Cornish tin in the Bronze Age up and down the Mediterranean. We're more interlinked than you first think. Borders have always been fluid.
