As it's currently #invertefest I've unearthed some old art and I give you... the palaeozoic invertebrates of the revolution! Part of a sequence of historical/palaeofauna images I did a while back.

sepia image of an ammonite-style cephalopod wearing a military uniform over its shell, holding a pistol and a pamphlet reading Sepia image of an opabinia in a sleeveless coat raising a revolutionary flag. sepia image of a sea scorpion in a scarf, shawl and dress holding a hip flask, a cigarette and writing down something in a notebook. sepia image of a trilobite in a fur trimmed coat and homburg hat holding a match close to the fuse of a spherical bomb.

Very cool work. I haven't written in a while, but when I did I liked to draw out some of my characters to help me get in their head. Something about drawing someone made them more alive to me

I’d love to hear the history of the failed spider communist revolution.

(there are also Gangs of Permian New York, ice age criminals of Victorian London and 20th century dinosaurs at war)

Am I wrong in thinking you did these around when you were working on Doors of Eden?

Not specifically - but both relate to my pre-existing interests :)
