That difference never bothered me, and I thought nothing of it, so reading about female masculinity wasn’t ever to help me figure things out, at least not then, but it was to help me figure out people’s response,

Stone Butch Blues for the first time, and I’m curious how they’ll respond to it. I read it every year, and every single year I am struck by how relevant it is to my present. I thought it might be a book that felt like my past at some point, but the feelings are just as visceral as the first time.
