Need to start calling out the doctors/OBGYNs. ER docs don't perform surgery. Blood transfusion is a stop-gap measure until problem is solved. D&C for hemorrhage/miscarriage is not an elective abortion & there is no confusion about what the procedure is. Shame on these cowards.

The likely problem is the hospitals. A doctor in a hospital can’t perform a D&C without an OR, nurses, anesthesia, etc. Laws in Texas were designed to cause fear and promote a snitch culture, and that has affected hospitals in situations where actual prosecution is unlikely to succeed. 1/

Hospitals play a part for sure but it should be challenged in court. It's an EMTALA violation, no? The patients described in this article are not "stable" which is the requirement of EMTALA.

Yes, hospitals need to be sued so that the risk assessment changes.

I’ve seen reports of pills being prescribed as an alternative. They can be effective for very early miscarriage but D&C is needed for serious hemorrhage or later m/c. But OBs face fewer obstacles from hospitals and other staff to prescribing pills.
