And expect that number to shrink further. No matter how much the government, major parties, or tabloid press push “Brexit benefits…” People know Brexit doesn’t. Brexit leaves the UK in a structurally weaker position, bleeding money, time, efficiency and opportunity daily.

Sunday Times cover saying new poll shows only 29% would vote for Brexit now.

Here are HM Treasury's "Operation Yellowhammer" predictions from 2018, dismissed by Gove as Project Fear (very similar to Trump firing his head of labor statistics when her dept's report told him what he didn't want to hear). Brexiteers can't say they weren't warned.

You don’t have to adopt their policies to chase their voters. By refusing to acknowledge the failure and explore reversing it, they are sending the signal that reforms "achievement" is more important than where the majority of voters are.

Ah. So “we’ve not reversed Brexit” has become “we’re the same as Reform” Ignoring the work done to fix the EU relationship and remove multiple barriers that Brexit erected. And because of your attitude of “it’s not been fixed immediately!” you’ll waste your vote and allow BREXITERS back in. 👍

The £100bn was meant to be lost GDP. But that's not tax. Say you get £30-40bn actual in tax from that. Then you have to pay £25bn every year to be in the Single Market, which you may, based on pre 2016 get £8bn back. They you have to pay the EU the customs duty you now collect, say another £3bn 🤔

I definitely wouldn't want to rejoin with Die Führerin as President. EU warmongering politics is a danger to Europe. A single market and customs union deal would be sufficient.

jameslongsdonprice @jamesprice.bsky.social

Well, that isn't on offer and there is no Führerin. The idea that we Brits can prosper 'renfermés sur notre île, loin des bruits du monde' (to paraphrase Maupassant) is pure fantasy. We need to work with, not against the rest of Europe.

Tamara in Portugal @tamarainportugal.bsky.social

There is no Führerin most certainly. A return to the SM/CU is not yet being entertained or discussed in any way at all - but actually in relative terms, it would be a less stumbly path back to the eventual road to being a full part of the EU again.

Tamara in Portugal @tamarainportugal.bsky.social

An explanation to voters how returning to the SM can take away the worst self harm of Brexit would go further still in preparing people for facing up to what the new terms of EU membership would actually entail.

Dropping the idiotic red lines to enable this would also engage the EU properly & be a genuine vehicle for building proper trust with them. Totally unlike this phony & disingenuous re-set which is only devised to mug people off over the oxymoron of 'make Brexit work'.
