My nephew is married to a naturalized citizen. She was born in another country & was adopted by US citizen parents (remember the babies from Asian countries in the 80s & 90s) They don’t want to leave the country. Why? Because they fear his wife might not get back in. This is what we’ve become

On a recent return from Europe, it was unbelievably quiet in the long line for customs/re-entry, as if everyone fears being pulled from the line. My husband is a naturalized citizen and I locked my phone (removed the facial recognition feature). I was told they can't force you to give your password.
Next time you need to take a burner.
I certainly considered that but again, needed the interface between my iPhone and 🍏 watch to daily monitor a heart issue. Who would have thought we would need to worry about shit like this?!
They can’t force you to unlock your phone. That’s why they tell you to either do what you did or leave your phone at home during protests.
I needed my phone because I have a medical condition that my 🍏 watch monitors.Otherwise I had planned at first to leave my phone at home while we were in Europe visiting family for a couple of weeks. I don't let my naturalized partner accompany me to protests because I fear the thugs might snag him.
It is heartbreaking and infuriating to be sure.
I am so sad for her. Another family member is married to a Latina and they have a son, I worry for them as well.

We have many Indian neighbors. Before Trump they visited family in India frequently. Now they are staying put, because they are afraid of being detained upon returning to the US. These are lovely people, great neighbors, and they don’t deserve to be treated this way.

She's Puerto Rican but I'm concerned if anything should go wrong with her pregnancy and she's in one of those f**ked up red states that her life would be in danger.

Another very young coworker (19 y.o.) said he was planning on joining the army. I told him HELL NO! Not under this regime! Every time I see him, I let him know what's going on and I steered him to bluesky. He is biracial and I'm worried for him as well.

I was advised by tribal leadership to carry my US passport and my real ID. To be nice and respectful at all times. I have my children and grandchildren doing the same.
My problem is that I have such a limited amount of patience for crap like this I’d find it very difficult to be either nice or respectful.

My wife is a naturalized citizen and we have left and came back 4 times now with no issues. I would highly recommend deleting your social media off your phone and not have any political photos, memes, etc. I am a Pueblo Indian (indigenous American) and get more scrutiny than my wife.
Make sure your phone is locked without fingerprint or facial recognition turned on. Make sure that your passcode is at least six digits long.

My son is married to a naturalized citizen as well, I worry about her all the time along with my grandchildren they look enough like her they have a lot of my son in them but people who are racist don't bother to notice that. They were harassed during COVID many times ppl tried to run them off road👇
said rude, racist things to her & her girls not when my son with her of course it got to the point I told her if she wanted I would go with her where ever she wanted me to go, she is one tough cookie she stood her ground but not when the girls were with her she ignored ppl then. We talked to the 👇
girls they understood mostly at the time 10 & 7 but they were still scared if their dad was with them he travel a lot for work nothing was said or looked at mean either, with me as well I don't hate a filter. Once someone tried to run her off the road w/the girls my son was in the front seat he 👇
