Oh no, now smoke from a fire near Kettle Falls, Washington, is sending smoke and ash into southerb BC.
I'm sure the Canadian government would love if we could just magically make all the wildfires no longer be burning. That'd be really great for things like the national budget and also Canadians not getting displaced from their homes.
I’m down in Minnesota and have intermittently had to hide inside with a HEPA air filter running. I can’t imagine what it’s like in actual Canada downwind of these fires.
Yeah I can 100% imagine it’s frustrating cuz it’s not a thing anyone can really control. I don’t love it when the smoke hits where I live either. There still being forest fires and fire smoke isn’t cuz our forestry management and woodland firefighters aren’t trying tho.
I’m genuinely curious why they haven’t been able to put it out, but I’ll give them the benefit of believing they’re trying as hard as they can.
Drought conditions and climate change. It’s very hot and very dry and a lot of very remote areas. Over half the fires are started by lightning and cuz there’s been so little rain, it just makes it spread faster. And cuz it’s so dry, there’s not enough snow in the winter either to help.
The more I think on this, the angrier I get. They don't seem to care about the people displaced, who lost homes and businesses, by the fires. They don't care about the work being put into fighting them. "YOUR smoke crossed OUR border so obviously YOU need to stop it"
