Evidently only one other publication has cited *his* dissertation. Citations are a measure of the value of a work: if nobody is citing your work, then the community does not value your work. A bit like quote posts / reshares.

So it seems. The one on the left, the curve fit doesn't fit the data, unless you randomly chop off part of it. It's garbage, and even then curve fits like that tend to be near useless for predictive capability. I have zero idea of what is going on in the right. I'm also not an economist.
What we are likely to see is a lack of good data, plus some of the data we do get will be made up. Still fundamentally, they are more or less doing mob boss rule, which means the favored get favors, and everyone else gets punished, more or less.
What Biden did with the Chips act was to identify a deficiency that is critical to our economy and national defense and set about fixing it. Trump is undoing much of that, so assuming China does eventually take over Taiwan, they can control so very much.
TSMC is thankfully building in Arizona, so we have that, but chips are in everything. During Covid the supply of ordinary chips dried up and a lot of work couldn't be done. I assume the Chips act would have helped there as well.

Plus on top of that, everyone is routing around America in everything. The new pathways for trade, commerce and all the rest, won't just fade if we get a sane administration. We will be in competition with them, while being so deep in dept. I'm guessing the days of us leading the world are over.
And that is even if we change back partially in 26 and fully in 28. The damage is too great. The trust gathered over so many decades cannot simply be reclaimed. They know we are one bad election from going right back to where we are now. Don't get me wrong we have to do our best...
