This is quite feasible & something I hadn’t considered, but makes total sense. But why the hand, when there are very many ‘hidden’ i/v sites? Bruising is not a given for a needle into a vein, but certain i/v drugs certainly can cause seepage into the surrounding tissue. And he’s right handed.

There’re many possible reasons for those bruises, but I don’t think they’re from IVs because those veins are very fragile, especially in the elderly. I think he’s getting frequent blood tests, perhaps checking medication levels or other medical conditions. In any case, we’re not being kept informed.

Speaking as a 73-year-old -- older people bruise more easily than younger people. A bruise like that could be indicative of a lot of things. If he's taking a "blood thinner" to prevent blood clots, for example, a bruise like that is pretty common. Or he could have just bumped his hand.
