Just marveling that I live in a time when people are earnestly arguing: "That letter linking the president to the world's most notorious pedophile can't be real. Trump's too stupid to use the word 'enigma.'"

My read is that the word "enigma" is probably an in joke of some kind. My guess is that Epstein called the girls enigmas at some point, or something like that. It doesn't sound like something he'd say on his own, but it does sound on like something he'd repeat back or riff off of with a wink.
I see now that your friend Colleen has already said a more sophisticated version of this, haha.
It's clearly a coy reference to *something.* And even if this isn't some kind of code, Trump clearly has an affinity for the occasional word or phrase that he thinks sounds smart or official. His more recent obsession with, "Thank you for your attention to this matter," is the latest in that trend.
Enigma is an anagram for gamine, a French word for young girl on the streets that is is alluring. I can completely see Epstein using that as a sly code for all of the young girls he was trafficking. Not hard to see that he could have shared that meaning with Trump.
Maybe Ghislaine came up with that code? Per wikipedia, Ghislaine was born in France. Ghislaine's mom was French. Also, per wikipedia, Ghislaine had a degree in Modern History with Languages from Balliol College, Oxford.
That was the phrase that jumped out at me, too, and I agree. I think that's a real possibility.
