Well, let's face it.... IL is basically Chicago and a few other places..... just based on population distribution. You can't compare what TX is doing to what any blue states do... they haven't embraced locking in power to the degree GOP has.
I'm saying that this is what Illinois should do in response, if Texas proceeds.
Even PA had to sue to undo what PA GOP did... and GOP sued to put it back and lost back in 2016 or so. I remember because I used to be able to traverse in and out of 4 districts just by walking 2 miles down to the 7-11 by the bus stop. It was a huge mess.
Get Abbott out of office and into prison where he belongs. He and his Republican cronies have been rigging elections in Texas for years. I know Beto is and Colin Allred had the votes over Abbott but they weren't counted.

Don't see how fleeing TX is gong to help;. Why don't all those Democrats got to TX and get Democrats to raise hell at the TX legislature.
This is the energy we need and the action that can create news. Most of this country does not know about or care about ICE actions. I think it has the highest approval rating, though still underwater, of any of this admin's policies.

Other states banding together to sue Abbott from doing this in Texas might be an easier feat to pull off and far less disruptive than several blue states now having to suddenly redistrict everything. /2¢ //ianal
I think NY is setting up something where if anyone redraws districts like TX is doing that they would automatically be able to call to redistrict things. Something like that.... Lord knows the GOP in CA have been trying to split CA apart into multiple states for decades.
I hope these Democrats stand their ground, even if it means being expelled by the governor and courts. I don't want to see it happen. But, whether they're in office or not, without a majority, their effect on the Texas legislature will be the same.
