Which Star Trek? I had never seen any Star Trek before I got together with my spouse @petticoatshrink.bsky.social, but she is a massive Trekkie and made me watch all of Next Gen and DS9 early in our relationship.

I got caught up on Lower Decks, and then started the latest season of Strange New Worlds. I grew up on TNG and VOY, but somehow missed DS9 until I was out of college. TNG was big for me because it aired Friday nights and we had to record it so we could watch after Shabbat services (Reform, obv)
DS9 is my favorite of the ones I've seen so far, but I've heard good things about Lower Decks. Do you recommend it?
I do. It is somehow simultaneously irreverent and faithful and by its final season it somehow makes a compelling meta case for "Multiverse" stories in a decidedly Trek way. But SNW is my favorite so far.
DS9 was first! This matters, I made that choice on purpose!
I love that you made that choice on purpose, even if I disagree. 😁
I mean, if you’re dating a religious studies scholar…
Best Trek.
DS9 was honestly the best, in hindsight, because it struck a balance between having season-spanning story arcs and also being about half bottle episodes. It's honestly something I found S3&4 of DSC and ENT figured out that their respective S1&2 misunderstood.
Can I ask if you had any thoughts on “Sanctuary” (DS9 Season 2, Episode 10)? I felt it was … a bit of a heavy handed metaphor for the I/P conflict; also the Skreeans almost seemed meant as caricatures.
