My column. When the Ti-Cats honoured Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, it occurred to me that in 2 years, he will earn more in a season than the ENTIRE CFL. Is this upward spiral in the major sports leagues sustainable? And at whose expense? www.montrealgazette.com/sports/footb...

If I had to take a guess at the answer to who's bankrolling this upward spiral I'd say gambling addicts because there's no way we'd see so many gambling ads if they weren't pulling in significant income

A huge part of it at least. While NCAA athletes are getting demands from gamblers that the arhletes make up their losses out of their own pocket. This is not sane.

I guess it will end when only a few, elected fans can attend games. But I don’t care how good you are at putting a ball or a puck into a net or hitting or throwing said ball, you don’t deserve that kind of money.
