One of the sweeter pairings I've ever seen on a tennis court: Towering, 45-year-old Venus Williams (who definitely still has it) with smallish, 22-year-old Canadian Leylah Fernandez. Fernandez is gushing like 10-year-old kid to be playing with her hero and it warms the heart in difficult times.
Leylah is mad-good at doubles.
In the post-match interview Fernandez reacted like a starry-eyed little girl very much in awe of her idol, but on the court she was a 22-year old phenom to be reckoned with. The chemistry between Venus and Leylah was palpable. They are a great doubles team.
Venus had some really nice things to say about Leylah after the match. Class act.
