The people to blame are the Dem leaders in Congress. A bunch of useless, pampered cowards, beginning with Chuck Schumer. There are good Dems in Congress but they aren't in leadership positions so it fell to the governors.

I know next to nothing about the US system, & find it confusing. The never-ending election cycles are nuts. But it’s about time that someone did something. That being said, it me, or is Newsom a bit problematic? There’s something untrustworthy about him to my mind, but I can’t put my finger on it.

I think people would trust Newsom more if he was uglier. Truth - he's almost too pretty for the job. He's been on the wrong side at times in California but now, when it matters most, he's shown some real courage.

Exactly the phrase that comes to me. If there is an election in 2028, I hope they go with one of the other governors.

Wes Moore is pretty darned pretty, too. Aside from looks and occasionally dubious choices, GN's biggest liability might be his provenance: California.
