Here in NB a decent used sewing machine (with table) is about $100. Lots of people selling off parents stuff that they donβt know how to use or canβt be bothered to use.
I grew up with Silent Gen parents. They fixed or made almost everything. My mom had a huge garden when I was little. My mom can make a meal from almost nothing. I learned that skill which I am glad for My father can literally fix almost anything(retired military)
I was raised by my grandparents from the greatest generationβ¦ β¦the best lesson I learned from my grandfather was not be afraid to try.
Once you start sewing, remember that thrift stores are an excellent source of fabric. Tablecloths, fabric shower curtains, sheets, etc have tons of fabric in them. Going to the thrift store with a fabric store mentality. I made a tote bag this week from a pair of jeans. I thrifted for a dollar.
Great reminders.βΊοΈ Thank You
In fact, all these tote bags were made from Thrifted material, including the lining and the handles. The belt section of the thrift store is great for finding handles for tote bags.
Great shopping bags, too. Nice βΊοΈ
