3. They are the kind of people we should contain and shun, in other words. Yet, astonishingly, the Labour Party is competing with Reform and the Conservatives to appease and attract such men, while dissing and burning its own base. We could reasonably ask what in the name of God is going on.

I assume that much like the BBC and various other quangos, the far right have managed to capture the Labour Party. Get a few of their people in key positions and everything just falls into place, apparently.

What explains it, unfortunately, sounds like a conspiracy theory. Starmer doesn't want to win in '29, he's more interested in a healthy pension funded by the kind of people who'd prefer a tame Farage government over a Labour government with too many ornery backbenchers. We can accept corruption...

Our society is in a basic sense "selecting" for psychopathy. There has been an inversion of values and a collapse of collective moral imagination, accelerated by globalisation. Meanwhile globalised media are anaesthetising us to this reality and its consequences.

Why is it that so many simply failed to see what was very plainly put before their eyes? You know, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time"?

Absolutely. These violent, ignorant, racist abusers are pure, unadulterated scum, who should have no place in any civilised society. That’s what I would like to hear from the Labour Party, although I would accept a slightly more toned down version replacing “scum” with “filth”.

It´s the same everywhere: Nazis are scum. The problem is: democracies don´t know how to deal with Nazis, once they crawl out of their sewer. Weimar is here again. Had Hitler & his associates been hanged in 1924, a lot of evil might have been prevented. Mutatis mutandis true today (Trump etc.).

thought this country was on the path to healing after the whole B-word episode. But no, sometimes feels even more poisoned than the MAGA landscape. At least there, both major parties aren’t racing off the cliff.

Labour-right will be remembered as the handmaids of the fascist regime that follows them. I struggle to think of a more hapless group of technocratic charisma-voids in the West and I live in the US and have to deal with Democrats.

No, Labour are doing it now because they want to. Were it a ploy just to get into power then there might be some logic there, but they are in power now with a huge majority and five years to implement anything. All the racism and authoritarianism now is because it's what they believe

What is going on, George, is that most of the mainstream media is consciously amplifying their voices as a distracting drama from / the proposed answer to the ongoing societal collapse we are all experiencing. Labour feel (rightly or wrongly) that they are prisoners to this narrative.
