(asking in good faith I promise): You mentioned you viewed this opportunity as a "mentorship opportunity", but it also sounds like there were some confidentiality/secrecy requirements. Is that incorrect about the secrecy, or if not, why would it need to be secret?

I don't think anything was secret. Just because people didn't know about it doesn't make it secret.

But there was this influencer who even showed the contract, where it says that there is a NDA, but "it is never enforced"

You should disclose who is paying you to create your content. Otherwise it's secret and you can't be trusted to be independent versus part of a larger influencing campaign. It's the same as lying by omission.
