I don't understand why banks always tie up pens with strings. We trust them with our money and they can't even trust us with just one pen.

Actually... I have a good reason. Cleanup. Think about it: you have really nice floors. They get buffed and polished every night. You cannot just vacuum up a pen or sweep it up as easily as just. If it snaps, the ink leaks everywhere on carpet or floor. Plus inventory time. They save 1/

I remember asking a teller about this when I was a wee lad, and they told me it was so old people didn’t have to bend down if they dropped it or it fell on the floor. I don’t know how true that is, but I don’t think it was a lie. Tbh

Was a teller once, we asked in a meeting & accounting instantly replied with "do you know how much it'd cost if we didn't? We are talking thousands of dollars for pens. They'd have to be refilled daily." The bank was later sold to Wells Fargo. This bank could afford "thousands".
