sadly they don't let first year Army lieutenants grow beards. Also I cannot grow one even now. I am very good at putting my hands in my pockets though, as many SNCOs have pointed out over the years.

There's nothing quite like the exquisite emphasis and subtle stress that we can put on the word "Sir", when pointing out to a junior officer that they are doing something not only incorrectly, but foolishly wrong. They teach us that at SNCO school, did you know that? 😎

one thing you pick up quickly working in EOD where it's pretty much all SNCO and WO is what they're actually saying vs what the words mean. I settled on being the guy they'd follow out of curiosity.
