Absurd. Many reasons for this, but an intentional move to generate more business isn't one of them. They spent a large amount of money. Their customers didn't like it, so they went back. Maybe their marketing department just blew it. Somebody's going to pay for this mistakeat the corporate level.

I am just going by what I've read and seen. Like, their reversal happened almost immediately, and the change being banal and all that. So, they were allegedly banking on decent media exposure and ended up getting way more than that, while their target demographics felt like they were the winners.
