They did this in July 2021 because of a voting bill that would make it harder for Texans to vote. The walkout lasted 38 days and Abbott still git his vote when the dems came back. I hope this one works better.

This is a smart strategy because all state minority parties can do this. Plus it completely renders any plan and law, null and void, as well as dead. Because if the GOP won't play fair, the Dems will prevent them from passing illegal laws, by this mean or other means.
Republicans did this in OR so much to the point that the Dems kicked them out of office.... make sure to check the laws in the state to make sure they don't set up something similar.
Actually I looked they don't have a law to prevent quorum busting. If all 50 states minority did this, gridlock. If the Dems did this while the GOP has a razor thin majority in the Senate where bills require 60 votes. Stops them dead in the tracks. Also, Republicans are spoiled brats.
Not to prevent quorum busting, but in OR, they missed enough sessions to where they could remove them from office. Just saying... some of these states will pass laws to stop anyone from challenging their sole control of things. Just be mindful when you fight.
Only fines and minimal jail time they don't have the majority to expel, 2/3 each chamber no matter what. Problem is, with the public really mad at the GOP. The GOP might have to back off Messing with the voters is like angering a beehive.

I don't know... but put it this way... they're fighting for us on a bigger scale than just TX... to stop the GOP from locking the legislature and House in the midterms and beyond. If we gave even $5 and a few thousand people did that, it would make sure they don't have a reason to return early.
