Unfortunately, the history books will be written by whoever comes out on top. My history books were full of stories of how missionaries did wonderful things for Native Americans and had their best interests in mind. Liars will continue lying for as long as they can get away with it
the winners write history which is why the survivors must still tell their stories. my elementary school books praised columbus until my mother, a west indian and descendant of his victims, told me the reality. it wasnt the first time my parents needed the record set straight
Yeah, my mom got really mad about my history books, too! As a kid, I just got in trouble because her answers made me flunk my tests. As an adult, I'm grateful.
