IANAL but as I understand it to prove defamation against a public figure is a pretty high bar, you have to prove "actual malice" in that you can prove the person knows they are lying and doing it to damage you.

I am a lawyer and I am not convinced that becoming temporarily famous because you were illegally arrested and deported makes you a public figure. It’s been a while but usually being a public figure is a choice, say because of a career like politician or actor.

I am also not a lawyer but the heightened standard isn't insurmountable and given how groyper-poisoned the entire right is now I really like your odds convincing a jury that actual malice existed after you subpoena the Bablyon Bee's groupchats
