Also the people who run the major llms suck too. But think about it, they're trying to exploit what they have instead of fixing the ethical problems surrounding it. We don't need chat bots. I wonder if it's more laziness and impatience than greed.
No it’s the technology that sucks, specifically in the use cases and applications that are most widely used and popularized by the companies making the technology
It's recreating things from a statistical model. There's nothing inherently evil about that, just the way it's used. The biggest issues are power consumption, using it to replace people and copyright theft. You can't create things from scratch and do that, but chroma key correction?
Interpolation? Spacing out pre-recorded sound clips to make them sound more natural? You could do that with a smaller, less environmentally impactful language model. But yeah chatbots are such a bad idea that you're either evil or stupid to build them.
